Motifs and painting techniques have varied enormously over
the years. Despite great variation there is a leitmotif: the
desire to convey joy, tranquillity and harmony - in some
cases reflection and nostalgia.
There is often a symbolism to be found in the paintings
which can generate a moment's contemplation. Circles and
bubbles frequently recur: the pure form of the circle,
completeness, unity, a bubble's transitory nature or the
possibility of achieving unimaginable heights.
